Asheville has really stepped into the southern spotlight as being an emerging “foodie” town. We couldn’t be prouder of the delicious food coming out of some of our favorite restaurants here in town. Whether you are looking for a fine-dining experience, killer BBQ, finger-lickin’ fried chicken, artful vegan cuisine or the world’s best burger… we know where to send you!
Asheville has several different Food Tours that are an excellent way to spend an afternoon eating through town, and beer drinkers will love the city’s variety of (over 42) breweries! Take the self-guided Asheville Ale Trail or enjoy Emilie & Arturo’s self guided beer tour that they have put together with walking instructions (and their favorite eats along the way).
There are many fabulous restaurants which are all walking distance from the Chestnut Street Inn.
Local, seasonal, sustainable cuisine with an Italian undertone. We love their homemade pastas, house cured meats and delectable vegetable dishes. Their innovative, prix-fixe family style tasting menu is our favorite meal in Asheville!
One of the best Spanish tapas restaurants in the US. Their chef, Katie Button has won a James Beard award and continues to be one of our favorites in town. We love their Iberico “steak” with sherry mushrooms, Spanish tortilla and pan con tomate. Definitely get your reservations in advance for this one… they book out fast!
Chestnut is a guest favorite. Located downtown, they have one of the best lunch menus in town. We adore their reuben and fried green tomato sandwich! For dinner, you’ll find a thoughtful, local menu that suits all palates!
Don’t be deceived by the word BBQ; Buxton Hall is putting out some of the best food in Asheville. Voted in the top 10 new restaurants by Bon Appetit magazine in 2016, we love everything they do. Try a BBQ plate with hash & rice, America’s #1 chicken sandwich with an extra side of white BBQ sauce (it is actually that good), a bourbon Cheer Wine slushie, their banana pudding pie and you’ll never want to go home.
Killer shellfish “happy hour” from 5-6pm with half-off all oysters, clams and shrimp. If you happen to be lucky enough to be in Asheville on a Monday, their $10 burger is Emilie’s favorite burger on the planet. Otherwise, they are putting out some beautiful, high-end food totally off the beaten-path.
Fantastic Mediterranean food with a Persian twist. We love their braised lamb shank and Chef Laura’s amazing chocolate ganache torte.
High end Mexican meets Southern cooking. Tasty cocktails and innovative cuisine makes this one of our favorites. Try their “shrimp & grits,” lobster nachos and daily ceviches! Make sure to start with one of their amazing flavored margaritas!
One of the first farm-to-table Asheville restaurants, Jacob and his team are the best. Their menu changes daily and the food is extraordinary. Head upstairs before your reservation for a cocktail and charcuterie at their Imperial Life cocktail lounge.
